Private AI hosting in the EU
"Private AI hosting" is sold as three very different things: a bare GPU for rent, remote maintenance of a server you own, or — rarely — AI that is actually hosted and operated for you. This page explains the difference, and what you should demand. One more thing many "EU" offers skip: an EU datacenter run by a US-owned operator is still within US jurisdiction (CLOUD Act) — ask who owns the operator, not just where the building is.
What "hosting" should actually include
Private inference on EU GPUs
Open-weight models (chat, coding, embeddings) served on dedicated capacity — prompts and completions never leave the platform.
The full stack underneath
Web, PostgreSQL, S3-compatible storage, email, DNS — because a private endpoint alone is not a workflow; your workflows run on the stack.
Operations, not just iron
Monitoring, backups, security patches, model updates — and a team that answers when something breaks.
A number in writing
99.9% availability with RTO/RPO defined per plan — in the contract, not the footer.
A rented GPU gives you half of the first item; AI installed on your own server gives you none — the hardware, the power bill and the risk stay with you. Hosting is hosting when the infrastructure, the redundancy and the responsibility sit with the provider.
Five questions for every offer
- Whose hardware does it run on — and if mine, who owns redundancy?
- What stands behind the uptime figure: a datacenter and backups, or a promise?
- Does the monthly fee include model updates, monitoring and backups?
- Where do prompts, logs and embeddings live — and who can access them?
- If I leave: what do I get in the export, and how fast?
ATAILA's answers: our own redundant, multi-site EU infrastructure · a written 99.9% SLA with defined RTO/RPO · model lifecycle, monitoring and backups inside the monthly fee · all data on the platform, in the EU, with no US processor in the path · documented export and a defined exit (ownership →).
